At Hope CommUnity Center, we offer one-on-one and small group ABE and GED tutoring for adults who are interested in taking the GED test or improving their basic skills in Reading Comprehension, Writing, Mathematics and Critical Thinking. Tutoring sessions are informal and flexible, and follow the needs of each student. Study groups meet in the mornings and the evenings. See below for our Spring 2017 schedule.
Along with assisting adults to build basic skills for the GED and the workplace, we also wish to develop critical consciousness in our group by exploring topics of personal, political, and economic significance through our reading, writing, and math activities.
All of our tutors are volunteers who donate their time, knowledge, and energy to support our adult students in achieving their goals. If you are interested in serving as an ABE/GED volunteer tutor, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Lynn Devanie: (407) 880-4673 ext. 222, firstname.lastname@example.org.
