We commemorate our Executive Director, Felipe Sousa-Lazaballet, by honoring his inspiring journey. Despite encountering obstacles, Felipe’s strength, perseverance, and unwavering hope propelled him to become the voice of numerous immigrants seeking a better life in this country. His narrative illustrates that with determination and hope, we can surmount challenges and inspire others to do likewise.

As we commemorate Felipe’s legacy, we also celebrate hope and opportunity for all young immigrants who come to this country. Behind HOPE Rising is a voice that knows firsthand the struggles and challenges undocumented youth face after graduating high school. 

This voice has experienced the fear and uncertainty surrounding this crucial moment in young people’s lives. As we celebrate another year of life, let us be inspired by the deep wish to open doors for other young people, especially those in Central Florida, who face similar circumstances to our own.

We continue the legacy of Hearts For Hope with HOPE Rising, a transformative program dedicated to empowering at-risk youth. It focuses on enabling high school graduation and access to post-secondary education. 

The HOPE Scholarship enables young people to receive the help and support they need. HOPE Rising is an opportunity to listen to the diverse stories of young scholarship recipients while networking and enjoying a nice lunch with the HOPE community.

Over the past 14 years, this initiative has awarded 382 scholarships totaling more than half a million dollars to fund the dreams and aspirations of promising young people seeking access to education.
