Hope CommUnity Center expresses its outrage and sadness over the shocking and inhumane treatment of Haitian migrants at the US Southern border.  The people of Haiti have experienced profound political, environmental and humanitarian crises in their homeland, all within the span of a few months. Deporting Haitian immigrants to a country that has been so devastated is unconscionable.

We appeal for the creation and implementation of a humane and dignified system to process migrants. We ask that resources be used to create safe and healthy shelters for Haitian families suffering at the border.  We demand that the unlawful deportations of Haitians immediately stop, and for the current administration to stop utilizing Title 42, a mechanism used by the last administration, to rapidly deport migrants without due process. Haitian immigrants should not be stripped of their humanity or their dignity!
