Hope CommUnity Center unequivocally supports the immediate passage of a Clean DREAM Act, a bipartisan bill that would provide a direct road to U.S. citizenship for people who are either undocumented, have DACA or temporary protected status (TPS).1

In September of 2017, nearly one million people learned they will live with a countdown. Their DACA and work permits are now set to expire, making uncertain their academic aspirations, job security, and mental and physical safety.
This was the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), created in 2012. Now DREAMers, recipients of Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and allies are pushing their elected officials to pass a Clean DREAM Act.
We, along with ally organizations, define a “Clean” DREAM Act to be a bill that has no additional funding for:
    • A border wall
    • Detention centers
    • Interior enforcement
We denounce any amendment to the DREAM ACT bill and any rhetoric that seeks to criminalize immigrant people and that intends to divide immigrant communities. We say proudly that the parents of DREAMers are the original DREAMers. Additional funding for border patrol will result in mass deportations of the communities with whom we work. That would be a step backwards.
Will you support us in this fight? Call your congressperson and ask them to co-sponsor a Clean DREAM Act? Call 832.742.1798 today and tell them:

“I am calling for _______________ to co-sponsor a clean Dream Act––one that ensures the ability of immigrant communities to continue pursuing their academic dreams, to work, to pay taxes, and not to live in fear of the criminalization, detention, and deportation of family and friends. Additional funding for a border wall, detention center, and interior enforcement stand to harm vulnerable immigrant populations.”
